UPSCALE DOWNSIZING

Less CAN be more! The term "upscale downsizing" may seem like a paradox, however the trend is becoming more popular amongst a wide-range of demographics, including millennials, young families and empty-nesters. Generally, people have thought about downsizing as a negative life event, but that doesn't need to be true. It is important to think of the positive aspects of downsizing your life.

A study of UCLA’s Center on Everyday Families highlighted that most people spend more than two-thirds of their time in the living room and kitchen! While downsizing may require you to part with some of your furniture, you are not necessarily parting with precious square footage.

Downsizing your home often results in a lower mortgage amount and therefore lower carrying costs on your new residence.

For my clients looking to downsize, I encourage them to think about the process more in terms of what they are gaining and less in terms of what they are giving up. Take time to look closely at the amenities and features of the smaller property - you will likely be very impressed with the quality of construction and finishings.

For clients who have made the decision to downsize, I often recommend condos, particularly units with higher-end features like The Charles.

The Charles Condos, located in the beautiful neighborhood of Charleswood, is a fantastic choice if you are thinking of downsizing. The Charles features high-end finishes such as quartz countertops, upgraded lighting, and modern vinyl plank floor and large balconies. Downsizing to The Charles will also give you access to luxurious amenities such as underground parking, a lounge and gym.

In addition, to make the decision to downsize easier, a number of different size and layout options are available at the Charles. Options range from 1 bed/1 bath to 2 bed/2 bath units. and the new phase has 3 bedroom/2bath units as well!

And, of course, each room has its own unique specifications and features that you can peruse at any time by making an appointment.

If you are considering downsizing - give me a call! I'd love to chat.
